The Crushing: Trusting God in Your Suffering

There are seasons in life that don’t just stretch us—they press us. Seasons where faith feels fragile, prayers feel unanswered, and trusting God becomes less of a declaration and more of a daily decision.

In the Christian faith, this season is often called the crushing.

The crushing is where everything familiar feels stripped away. It’s where comfort fades, certainty disappears, and we are left face to face with our dependence on God. And yet, scripture reminds us that God is near to the brokenhearted and close to those who are crushed in spirit.

This season isn’t theoretical for me—it’s personal.

When Trusting God Feels Hard

We often talk about trusting God when life is good. But what about trusting Him in suffering? What about trusting Him when the pain lingers, when healing doesn’t come quickly, or when answers feel delayed?

Trusting God in suffering doesn’t always look strong or confident. Sometimes it looks like continuing to show up. Sometimes it looks like praying through tears. Sometimes it looks like simply choosing not to walk away.

The crushing has a way of revealing what we truly believe about God—His character, His goodness, and His presence when life hurts.

Why I Created The Crushing Podcast Series

This is why I created The Crushing: Trusting God in Your Suffering, a special podcast series on Devoted to Her.

The heart behind this series is simple: to create space for honest conversations about pain, faith, and perseverance. Not polished testimonies. Not quick fixes. But real stories of trusting God through grief, loss, illness, betrayal, disappointment, and long seasons of waiting.

The first episode begins with my own story—shared openly and without perfection—because suffering doesn’t come wrapped in clarity or resolution. It comes messy. And faith often grows the same way.

God’s Purpose in the Crushing

Scripture shows us again and again that God uses seasons of suffering to refine us, not to destroy us. Just as olives are crushed to produce oil and grapes are pressed to produce wine, God often brings fruit from the very places that feel painful.

That doesn’t mean the pain is easy or that it’s something we rush through. But it does mean our suffering is not wasted.

If you’re in a season where God feels silent, where trusting Him feels harder than ever, or where life feels unbearably heavy, you are not alone. The crushing does not mean God has left you—it often means He is closer than you realize.

Each episode is designed to encourage your faith, remind you of God’s presence, and offer hope in the middle of hard seasons.

An Invitation to Share Your Story

If you’ve walked through a season of suffering and learned how to trust God through it, I’m also inviting guests to share their story on the podcast. Your testimony could be the encouragement someone else needs to keep going.

The crushing may feel isolating—but God often uses shared stories to bring healing, connection, and hope.
