January marks a new year, but for many of us, it also carries the weight of everything we’ve survived to get here.
Since July, my life has looked very different than I expected. Walking through cancer has not only tested my body, but every other area of my life as well. My finances came to a complete halt, but my bills and responsibilities did not. There were days I needed rest, days I was in the hospital, and days I still had to explain to my landlord how I planned to pay rent. I leaned heavily on God, my family, friends, and even the kindness of strangers just to make it through and to make sure my children were fed.
While I am incredibly grateful to receive care from one of the top hospitals in the country, the reality is that not all systems are built to support the everyday needs of people walking through medical or personal crises. And that gap — that space where people fall through the cracks — is what God has placed on my heart.
Out of this season was birthed The Devoted To Her Foundation.
This is not a fully formed nonprofit yet. Right now, it is a community support project, rooted in compassion, obedience, and lived experience. The Devoted To Her Foundation will exist to support single mothers who are walking through medical treatments or unexpected emergencies by helping with things like meals, small bill assistance, care packages, and seasonal support for their children.
I know firsthand how overwhelming it is to be fighting for your health while still being responsible for everything else. I know what it feels like to be grateful for survival, yet angry that survival doesn’t stop the bills. I know how humbling it is to need help — and how powerful it is when someone shows up anyway.
This project is my way of saying: you are not forgotten.
As this project grows, my heart is to eventually provide holiday meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas, gifts for children, and care packages that are actually useful for people who are sick — not just pretty, but practical. This is about dignity. This is about meeting real needs in real moments.
For now, The Devoted To Her Foundation will start small. Quietly. Intentionally. With integrity.
You may see requests for in-kind donations like meals, grocery gift cards, or emergency items. You may see stories shared (always respectfully and anonymously). You may see opportunities to support through products connected to Devoted To Her. There is no pressure — just an open door for those who feel led.
I don’t have all the answers yet. What I do have is obedience, a board of trusted people standing with me, and a deep conviction that God wastes nothing — not even the hardest seasons.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for praying. Thank you for supporting in whatever way you can, whether that’s sharing, giving, or simply believing with me.
This is the beginning of something rooted in faith, resilience, and love.
With gratitude,
Samantha J. Minor
